{the yarn gallery} Grand Rapids, MN

Hi!  I haven't blogged in a while.  Its been a busy spring!  I finally got a chance to go to another yarn shop!!!!!!!!   My goal this summer is to blog about a different yarn shop at least once a month! I'm excited to travel all around MN and WI to find these yarn shops.

   {the yarn gallery}

Every memorial day my husband's family heads up north to Remer, MN.  The guys fish all day and the wife's (mom's) stay back and watch all the cousins play ;)  This year the girls and I decided to take a trip to Grand Rapids, MN and do a little shopping while the men stay back and watch the kiddo's.  I had to see if Grand Rapids had a yarn shop to go to of course!!!

We came across a cute little shop-  The Yarn Gallery.

This yarn shop is SO cute!  If you are traveling through or staying in Grand Rapids you NEED to stop and say hi to the owner Carissa.  She was very friendly and helped us with all our questions!  I love going into a yarn shop and the workers treat you as a friend!  It makes you love knitting even more when the person is kind and talks "shop" with you :)   You can tell Carissa has a passion for knitting, yarn and people!  Every Memorial day weekend I will be visiting her!  The Yarn Gallery carries a variety of yarns-  Rowan, Malabrigo yarns, Frog Tree yarns and ALOT more!

This is the giving tree at The Yarn Gallery.

{more Chicago yarn stores}

Over the holidays my family and I went to Chicago again and I had to visit the other popular yarn stores there.  We went to {nina} and {Knit1}.  My favorite yarn store in Chicago would defiantly be {nina}.  This yarn store was in the cutest part of Chicago and was super easy to find!  There slogan is super cute too {a well knit store}.  They were super welcoming and  really nice.   They also carry Blue Sky Alpaca yarn and any yarn store that carries that I love ;)  When I was looking through the yarn and goodies I saw the most beautiful hat pattern I had to try-  I used rowan cocoon (see photos below)    They have the cutest store and LOTS of yarn!!!  --If you go to or through Chicago you need to stop here!

The second store I stopped at was {knit1}.  I was really bummed when I stopped here because it was a super cute store but the workers never said one word to me-- So I left after awhile and I probably wouldn't go back.  When I open my yarn shop I will make an effort to talk and interact with my customers as much as I can!  I love talking to people that have the same hobby as me!!!

Here are some pictures of my trip

{Yarn Stores}

I absolutely love yarns stores!  Someday I defiantly will open my yarn store- and hopefully this blog will get me their sooner ;)  When ever I visit another state I always look up some yarns stores I can visit!  About a year ago I visited Chicago IL and went downtown and found a really cute yarn store called Loopy Yarns.

When I walked in there were lots of people knitting and there was yarn everywhere!!! A knitters dream!   The store sorted their yarn by weight/color instead of fiber content and brand like I mostly see.  Kinda confusing at first but it sure is pretty ;)  Whenever I visit a yarn store I always like when the workers interact with you, ask you questions, and are nice.  I would rate Loopy yarn store a B- for customer service because the workers would answer my questions but didn't seem to want to interact with me.  I loved all their products and I actually bought a knitting bag by Amy Butler for Kalencom.  It is my favorite knitting bag ever!!!  When I have a yarn shop I will defiantly carry these bags!

If you are in Chicago you defiantly need to check out Loopy yarns. I have visited a couple different yarn shops in Chicago so more posts are coming!!!!!!!!
